BY-LAWS & STANDING RULES:

SEA Members,

The SEA Bylaws Committee is recommending a change to the current bylaws (revised April 2020). In accordance with the notification provisions of our bylaws, notice is being provided to all members of the proposed change. The proposed change will be voted on at the next regularly scheduled Representative Assembly on Monday, March 8, 2021. Please contact your building representative or the SEA Board of Directors with your thoughts, concerns or questions on the proposed change.

Proposed amendment to the SEA bylaws (March 15, 2021):

ARTICLE IV. Board of Directors

Section 4.1 COMPOSITION

4.13 As a minimum, the Chair and an elected representative of each Department of the Association, as defined in Article VIII of these bylaws, shall be members of the Board of Directors. The Departments may have additional members on the Board of Directors if they qualify with a membership of more than six hundred fifty (650) members. (Using a ratio of 1/250, and rounding up at 2.6 representatives.) In addition to the Grade Level Representatives, each department starts with two representatives on the Board of Directors (President and VP). If there are more than 500 members in a department, that department will be allocated additional seats on the Board of Directors at a ratio of 1 per 250 (rounding up at 0.6).

Additional Substitute Department representation is determined by the number of member substitutes who work a minimum of one day, before February 1st of the election year. The membership count as of February 1 in an election year of each of the Departments will be used to determine the number of Department Representatives on the Board of Directors, for the following two-year term of office.
